While the manufacturer's disclaimer states "you may not use the device to violate the privacy rights of any other party", many do not abide by this.

As you can see, keyloggers can be used for practical reasons. Its most important use for parents is to keep tabs on their kids. While there are benefits of such an item, there will always be a high volume of people who would rather use keyloggers to violate other's privacy.
