Night Vision to Fight TerrorismWhen the sun goes down, the United State's troops turn night into day to keep the upper hand on their enemy. Night vision goggles are currently being used in Iraq and Afghanistan to fight terrorism. The night vision and thermal vision technology of United States far outweighs any technology possessed by their enemies. It is believed that members of Al-Qaeda have night vision goggles, but this technology is most likely of the 1980's. Al-Quaeda have probably gotten their hands on less-capable Russian models.
Each American soldier is equipped with and trained to use night vision goggles. Every tank, aircraft, helicopter, and armored vehicle features night vision technology. It has allowed the U.S. troops to make all of the necessary key advancements during night. In completely darken caves of Afghanistan, thermal vision detects any heat present creating an image for the soldier to see. In a way, it can be seen as blind-siding the enemy when they can't do anything about it.
