As the founder of AboutFloaters, I receive dozens of questions about eye floaters. One of the questions that I get asked most often is whether there is a direct relation between eye floaters and pregnancy. While the answer to this question is somewhat debatable, there does seem to be evidence that links the two.
The answer lies in what happens to women during their pregnancy period. When women are pregnant, their blood pressure generally rises. There are hundreds of changes that occur in a woman's body while they're pregnant, some of which do leave damage in the woman's body.
So although it's very likely that pregnancy does cause eye floaters, this hasn't yet been scientifically proven. A way to prevent the formation of eye floaters in pregnant women is by eating properly and not doing any sort of strenous activities.
