Treasure Hunting Risks

When using a metal detector, one must notice the many possible risks associated with it. Many precautions must be taken when one is to use a metal detector for treasure hunting. Here is a quasi-complete list of such precautions:

  • When Treasure hunting, always bring enough water with you. I have faced numeous occasions in which I have had to call it a day because of lack of water. Bring more than enough wateralways. If you are going to treasure hunt in a dry location, bring much more water.
  • Always wear boots. They are very safe when going to treasure hunt in the open. If you are going to use your metal detector in your home or in a "safe" place, then you might as well skip this step, but if you are going to Africa, a pond, or a jungle then I strongly suggest that you wear boots.
  • Make sure that your clothes go with the occasion. This is something that my mother used to repeat all the time, and I cannot emphasize it enough - always wear what you will need. If it's going to be extremely hot (check weather.com beforehand), then you need to use a sun block, a hat and a long-sleeve shirt. If it's going to be cold, then do bring proper outfit - this is imperative.
  • Bring extra batteries. There is nothing more annoying than having to go back home because the metal detector 'drank' all the batteries. I strongly suggest you bring many packs of extra batteries.
  • If you are going to profesionally treasure hunt, have at least two metal detectors ready.
  • Have a map of the location. If you are going to the open, which is where most of the good treasure are, then always bring a map or a GPS.
  • I hope that with these tips you will have a more joyful metal-detecting experience.
