Detect Metals Under Water or on The Beach

Any beach that is often populated with people can be considered a gold mine.  This what draws many people back to beaches to search for their hidden treasure.  It is simple, valuable things can easily be covered up in sand and they can just as easily be uncovered using a metal detector.  Metal detecting on a beach is often called "beach hunting" or "beach combing".

Beach hunting is best to do in the morning or evening when there are not as many people around.  Depending on where you're at, you may need to acquire a permit to metal detect the beach or water.

Using underwater metal detectors, your hunt can be taken into bodies of water such as the ocean.  This where most people end up losing jewelry and money.  After a storm has rolled through, treasures are often brought on the beach or right along the coastline.  Locate the middle between high tide and low tide.  This is often described as the best spot for metal detecting.  Do your best to try and cover as much area as you can, but don't worry if you miss something because there is more out there than you could imagine.

Another area that can yield a nice find is the parking lot where beach-goers park their cars.  This where everybody is in a rush to unload their car and head to the beach.  I would recommend searching here after most cars are gone for the day.

Don't be discouraged if you end up finding a lot of trash because that is likely to happen.  Among this unwanted trash, your treasure can be found.
